Just got the new records by SF’s Coconuts in the shop! The records is on Chris Duncan and Maggie Otero’s LAND & SEA label, is pressed on beautiful marbled vinyl, limited run of 300, and sells for $15.
“Tomo Yasudo (Tussle) and Colter Jacobsen, along with Kieko Kayamoto and Justin Loney (the mantles), offer 10 songs exploring a wide array of influence and experimentation. From their interpretation of The Coasters classic “searchin”, to quirky originals like skipping bunny, to a nod to Arthur Russells “its all over my face”, COCONUT ebbs and flows on and off time sounds that conjure visions of John Cage, Sea and Cake and Arthur Russell hugging. COCONUT formed as a two piece in 2002,with Tomo and Colter as main stays, interacting and collaborating with a wide array of artists and musicians over the years.”
