Wow, the benefit art show did the trick. We made enough money to pay off the lousy fine the city stuck on us, and we had a good time to boot. What the hell else could a person ask for?? Thanks a million to everyone that came out to the grand re-opening benefit art show, donated art, bought art, played music (both at N+P and Adobe Books), and just hung out. What an amazing community we're part of. Here's a sample of some of the pics shot at the opening (full photo documentation to be posted soon!!):

The N+P Grand Re-Opening Benefit Art Show is finalized! Don't miss it, Saturday, June 24th 6-9pm. Great art at cheap prices - proceeds go to pay off a fine the city of SF laid on N+P for art show flyering.

And what better place to do it then at the artists town hall - Adobe Books. Adobe is on 16th st. btwn Guerrero and Valencia." THANKS KYLE.

!! NEEDLES + PENS IS MOVING !!
After three glorious years of business on 14TH street, N+P is relocating two streets over to a larger spot at 3253 16TH Street (the former location of Otsu.

We've got a shit load of stuff to do (painting, moving, etc...), but we're shooting to be open in the new spot by June 1st. In the mean time, it's business as usual on 14th street where we'll happily continue to sell you photocopied and stitched up crap until May 28th (which will be the last day of business at 483 14th Street). We're excited, the new spot is gonna be great...

The power went out tonight. It's crazy how fast one realizes that without electricity this whole world wide web communication system we've created ceases to exist. But yet, the earth is uneffected and continues to spin regardless of high-voltage currents....I'm thinking that's probably a good thing to keep in mind. Anyway, you probably noticed the new scrolling menu off to the right, slowly but surely I'm trying to put up pictures from all of the art shows we've had since we started this N+P fiasco. Tonight,I just added Jay Nelson's Tree House and Jen Smith & Chris Duncan's show (both from last year). Hot diggity!

We've done it. We are willing participants in the virtual hell-hole that is Myspace.com. If you hve also sold your soul, why not become a pal of the N+P at www.myspace.com/needlesandpens.
In other notes, we went and saw Dan Higgs play at the Hemlock on Tuesday. It was a religious experience, to say the least. The guy is a truly amazing artist and If you miss him playing here with The Golden Bears on Saturday 1/28/06 you are a fool. seriously. P.S. - If it happens to rain the muiscal portion of the show will be moved across the street to Box Dog Bikes.
